Steven Gale is an experienced and popular interviewer who chairs 35-40 events annually at literature festivals in the UK and internationally. Most are one-to-one interviews, some are panel discussions. He is comfortable discussing a wide range of subjects, including literary and genre fiction, history, biography, memoir, politics, science, sport, food and film.

Steven also curates festivals and events, moderates panel discussions at conferences and for businesses, book launches and press previews, and facilitates meetings to discuss organisations’ programming, planning, governance and stakeholder management. He was curator for the inaugural ‘Omnibus Edition’ literary festival in Clapham, London, in May 2016. Since 2016, Steven has been a Cultural Events Producer for the British Library, where he has programmed events featuring authors such as Simon Sebag Montefiore, Vivek Shanbhag, Helen Rappaport, Alice Rawsthorn, Harriet Harman, Simon Jenkins, Charles Spencer, Amit Chaudhuri and Jim Crace.

In 2015-16, Steven’s literary conversations included Hanif Kureishi, James Ellroy, Jenny Offill, Lauren Groff, Edna O’Brien, Julie Myerson, Kate Mosse, Madeleine Thien, Hilary Mantel, Teju Cole, Jesse Ball, Garth Greenwell, Alexander McCall Smith, Meg Rosoff, Helen Simpson and Rose Tremain.
